Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)
at New England Rehabilitation Hospital

New England Rehabilitation Hospital (NERH) is committed to the development and implementation of a Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC). The formation of a Patient and Family Advisory Council is in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations 105CMR.130.1800.

The purpose of a Patient and Family Advisory Council is to provide a forum that enables patients and family members to have direct input into the development of policies, programs and practices at New England Rehabilitation Hospital.

The PFAC at NERH will consist of a total of nine members comprised of five former patients and/or family members (at least 2 of the 5 must be former patients) and all must be representative of the community at large. Four persons from the NERH staff will also serve on the Council. The PFAC will review and advise NERH on matters brought before the council and may include issues related to education, quality, safety or other programs, policies, procedures or concerns. The PFAC will have direct communication with Senior Leadership at New England Rehabilitation Hospital.

NERH has developed a work plan to ensure that the timetable for implementation of the PFAC is on track to begin meetings in 2010.
